Time flies as I am stepping into the last year of my postgraduate study in the First Affiliated Hospital of SYSU, It’s a pleasure to have this chance to express my gratefulness to all the mentors I met along the way. As a medical student, it is my honour to be given an opportunity to study in one of the top medical academy in China. The hospital has given us plenty of opportunities to interact and keep in touch with the latest knowledge and skills in the world. As I remember the times when we had this chance to communicate with cardiology expertise from the United states through a video conference, and also the times we had with Professor Ben-Horin from Israel in the Gastroenterology department where he shared his experience and knowledge with us and many more other experiences and knowledge I learn during my rotation these two years.
Meanwhile, I am also given plenty of chances to practice hands-on skills under the guidance from the teachers. With such a great learning environment and atmosphere, I am given chances to brush up my clinical thinking and skills. They would point out my mistakes and tell me how to make it right. Continuous encouragement is always given to me at the times when I struggle to catch up. Their encouragement is my greatest motivation. I have learnt much from the professors and it is very crucial to my improvement.
As a postgraduate specializing in Endocrinology, I would also want to express my gratitude to all the help I received from all the colleagues, seniors and professors, and i am especially grateful to my supervisor professor, Prof Xiao Haipeng. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the medical school,I decided to continue my postgraduate studies in the First Affiliated Hospital of SYSU, specializing in Endocrinology. The first few months were a bit uneasy for a new comer like me, an international medical student in a foreign environment. Thankfully, with their help, life in the hospital started to change. They taught me everything, such as how to communicate with patients, how to make a right diagnosis and give the right treatment etc. Meanwhile, I am also being given chances to take part in large-scale scientific research projects and major conferences. I have learnt a lot of advanced knowledge from it. In the meantime, my supervisor professor, Prof Xiao not only helped me in my clinical practice, he also provides me with guidance in my graduation research projects.
I have really enjoyed studying in the First Affiliated Hospital of SYSU. Thank you to all whom I met here, with your help, I manage to overcome all obstacles. I am proud and honoured to be a member of the First Affiliated Hospital of SYSU
